Overview
The SMARTISYS¢ç IPIO series of interface computers module are the most common devices with universal interfaces among the control systems. They are applicable to situations where the infrared and relay interfaces may need to be expanded. They can also be employed in a third-party control system, serving as an interface device.

For different models, they provide eight or 16-channel independent low level relay output, eight-channel digital input, eight or 12-channel infrared output. The working status of each I/O interface is display by the indicator. Two RS-232 serial ports: CONTROL IN is used for communication between an interface computer and the main control computer. CONTROL OUT is used for cascading with another interface computer.

The control codes of the device are shortened instructions with constantly four bytes. All of the control codes are open. The SMARTISYS¢ç IPIO series of interface computers adopt RS-232 asynchronous serial communication protocol compatible with the computers, so they are applicable to any control system. The exclusive debugging software enables online debugging of the interface computers module, which shortens the time for programming and debugging.

Features
Powerful Scalability
The IPIO series of interface computers module support cascading. You can control over 200 IPIO devices through an RS-232 serial port by specifying IDs (00-EF) of different devices. The powerful scalability makes the IPIO interface computers ideal for large-scale diversified control applications, such as audio-visual education program center, where a main control computer is connected to multiple IPIO devices to implement centralized control over multiple classes cost-effectively.

Wide Applicability
The IPIO series of interface computers adopt completely open control codes and protocols. They are applicable to any control system, or PC-based control system directly. They are able to control all types of infrared devices with the powerful infrared library and infrared driving capability. In addition, they use commands to execute infrared, relay and I/O operations, and can buffer several instructions to place the I/O operations in trusteeship. The workload of the main control system is lessened as a result.

Convenient Debugging
The IPIO series of interface computers are designed with online debugging software to implement distributed system debugging. An advantage of the distributed debugging is that the control over an individual device is allowed immediately after it is connected to the system, so debugging of the external devices under control is easy to implement. Without the function of distributed debugging, you cannot check connections and settings of the controlled devices until all the software and hardware of the control system are completed.
